The wait is almost over for UK NFL fans as the season kicks off this week.

The first game of the new campaign will see Patrick Mahome's Kansas City Chiefs front and centre and the Super Bowl champions from last season will be looking for a strong start as they take on Detroit Lions. Kansas are once again tipped to challenge for the biggest prize in the game this season and will be in contention for the Vince Lombardi Trophy, but they will face a stern test on their opening night.

Despite being favourites for the game the Chiefs will be taking on a rejuvenated Lions side who could cause Kansas some problems. Detroit recovered from a rough start to last season ended the regular season on an 8-2 run that was their first winning record since the 2017 season.

Kansas will host the Lions at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, and Detroit will be hoping that they can continue their good form from last season as they set their sights on qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in seven years. Detroit are seen as one to watch going into the new campaign due to a refreshed backfield which now features 2023 first-round pick Jahmyr Gibbs and free agent signing David Montgomery.

As well as the enticing clash on Friday morning, there are fourteen more games to come on Sunday including big showdowns between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. Monday Night Football will feature the Super Bowl hopeful Buffalo Bills against Aaron Rodgers' new team, the New York Jets.
