West Ham and Fulham legend Tony Gale launches his autobiography That's Entertainment at Waterstones Lakeside tomorrow, Friday 1st September, with a book signing session for fans.
In a footballing career spanning 21 years, Gale played more than 720 games on almost every league pitch across the four divisions of English football. As a pundit he has commentated on over 3,000 live games, covering virtually every major football competition in his inimitable light hearted manner.
Gale made his first team debut at Fulham at the ripe age of 16, before being made captain of the Cottagers at 18. Playing alongside a golden era of greats, the anecdotes which Gale recounts while playing alongside George Best, Bobby Moore and Rodney Marsh are a nostalgic masterclass.
After 277 league appearances with the west Londoners, Gale moved to the east side of the capital to join West Ham in 1984 for a transfer fee of £200,000.
He stayed with the Hammers for the next decade, where the Pimlico-born defender was part of the iconic 'Boys of 86' squad, which broke 17 records that year, 16 of which are still unbeaten.
After leaving West Ham in 1994, Gale pitched up at Blackburn Rovers to work with Kenny Dalglish. He made 15 appearances across the season as Blackburn won the Premier League title, giving Gale the only major honour of his career at the age of 35.
Galey's book will be serialised next week on football.london, but if you want to meet one of the game's most memorable characters then head to Lakeside Waterstones at 1pm on Friday.
