Newcastle United have completed the signing of former West Ham youngster Amadou Diallo until the end of the season. The 19-year-old has completed his move after a successful trial at the club following his release from David Moyes' side last term.

Diallo turned down a number of high-profile offers to sign a youth contract with Hammers. However, the 19-year-old found himself looking for a new club after a decade in the capital following his release this summer.

Speaking to Newcastle's official website, Diallo said: "Firstly, I want to say thank you to the club for giving me an opportunity to become a Newcastle player. "I'm very delighted to be here and will be looking forward to playing and helping the team.

"From day one, the players and staff were good to me and helped me settle in quickly so that made everything else easier. I'm really looking forward to getting started to help the team and work hard to achieve our goals as a team for the season."

The left winger has now taken to social media and posted an emotional message thanking everyone at the London Stadium for helping him with his development.

Diallo posted: "Firstly, I want to thank everyone [at] West Ham that was involved in the past 10 years of my development. Really enjoyed playing and representing the club, I wish everyone luck for the future."

Newcastle United academy director Steve Harper added: "We are delighted that Amadou is joining us until the end of the season. He has performed well over his extended trial period and his signing gives us increased options in wide areas in the under-21 group."

Newcastle confirmed the deal for Diallo on Monday, but the teenager did not feature in the Papa John's Trophy tie against Lincoln City on Tuesday night.
