Mauricio Pochettino was able to welcome back some important Chelsea players to the Cobham training pitches this week ahead of a Premier League against Manchester City. Injuries have plagued the early months for the Blues with Pochettino frequently having to deal his players being stricken down by muscular issues.

In recent weeks, Benoit Badiashile and Reece James have both returned from lengthy lay-offs with the latter as club captain going straight back into the team. Christopher Nkunku is still yet to make his playing comeback, although several positive updates have been given in the last few weeks which suggests a return against Newcastle after the international break is certainly plausible.

Alongside Nkunku, Enzo Fernandez had been dealing with a knock picked up in the win over Tottenham, but he appears to have since recovered ahead of this weekend's daunting task. With that said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Chelsea training images before the clash with Man City.

Triple injury boost

Enzo Fernandez, Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia were all spotted on the grass at Cobham just days before Chelsea play Man City. The Argentine was spotted with the group for the first time this week, while Lavia and Nkunku were doing separate running drills ahead of a big two weeks for the duo.

With the Blues not in action until Saturday, November 25 after this weekend, both Nkunku and Lavia will be heading into the international break with the aim of increasing their fitness levels to be available for selection.

Mudryk worry

Mykhailo Mudryk has dealt with a fair share of injuries since his Chelsea career began nearly 11 months ago. Against Tottenham, the Ukraine international returned from his latest minor problem with a mixed 32-minute cameo.

Now, with competition for places increasing in attack, Mudryk may have been hit by another cruel blow. In the latest set of training images from Cobham, Mudryk was nowhere to be seen and it is therefore entirely plausible he has suffered a setback, despite being captured in action the day before.

James hint

For the first time in over two months, Reece James started a Premier League game for Chelsea earlier this week. The club captain managed to play 77 minutes against Spurs before being replaced by Malo Gusto and a similar plan could be activated this week.

James declined an England call-up to work on his fitness, although match sharpness could be still returning, he looks set for another start this weekend. In training, Gusto was spotted being closed down by Fernandez with the duo on opposite teams of a small-sided game and with the latter expected to start if fit, that would suggest Gusto is on the bench with James in at right-back again.
