Chelsea are reaching the back end of their pre-season tour of the USA and, so far, things for new boss Mauricio Pochettino look promising.

The Blues have played four matches so far, beating Wrexham, Brighton and Fulham with a draw against Newcastle resulting in them winning the Premier League's US Summer Series and lifting the trophy. New attacking flair has been a welcome addition to the team after a campaign of struggle in front of goal, while defensively they've been resilient.

The real tests are yet to come though, with a clash with Borussia Dortmund finishing up pre-season before the Blues host Liverpool in their opening league fixture next week. With that in mind, the preparations are being stepped up in training to ensure the side will be in top condition.

From a brand new face in the squad to a huge injury return, here's a look at a few things spotted from the latest Chelsea training session.

New signing spotted

Midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu was spotted in training for the first time since he made the move from Rennes earlier this week in a deal worth roughly £23million. The 19-year-old has plenty of promise and a decision is yet to be made over the future of his development, be it with the first-team or on loan.

For now though, the youngster is training over in the USA with the rest of the squad so Pochettino and his staff can assess his potential up close.

Huge injury return

Noni Madueke was pictured in training in a huge boost to Pochettino on the injury front, following some absence due to a tight hamstring. The precaution was taken, with the winger having faced injury concerns in the past, but as football.london broke earlier this week, it seems he is back in the mix once again.

Mykhailo Mudryk chat

Last season didn't play out how many anticipated for Chelsea and the same goes for January signing Mykhailo Mudryk, who struggled to get up and running after his big money move. A full pre-season will no doubt erase any fitness concerns from the previous campaign and many will hope he can reach the huge potential he has.

Some of that will be down to Pochettino to extract and the boss was pictured having an individual chat with the Ukrainian international, perhaps imparting some wisdom. Nicolas Jackson was also spotted having a side conversation with his new teammate, who could be a deadly duo in the opposition half.
