Arsenal star Kai Havertz sparked a huge coming together between both teams at St. James' Park following a reckless challenge. The Germany international started alongside Jorginho and Declan Rice in midfield after Gunners' captain Martin Odegaard was left out of the matchday squad as he struggles with injury.
Havertz lit the fuse at St. James' Park with a late challenge on Sean Longstaff as most of the Newcastle players came over to confront the German playmaker. The home fans sparked into life as they blasted Havertz for his tackle with Declan Rice telling the Newcastle supporters to calm down as Jorginho dragged the German away from the crowding.
Referee Stuart Atwell dished out four yellow cards in total following the incident as Eddie Howe's players complained to the match officials. Arsenal had full control of the game up until Havertz's challenge with Sky Sports co-commentator Gary Neville questioning the 24-year-old's decision-making.
Neville said: "Well what is he [Havertz] doing? Arsenal have complete control of the game, now it’s all boiling over and that is a stupid, stupid challenge.
"I think it was dangerous rather than reckless. To be fair to him, he’s managed to get three Newcastle players booked here, hasn't he?
"Gordon there, now Longstaff and then Schar - I take it all back, he’s actually done quite well there Havertz! Maybe he should do that more often!"

Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes was then lucky to escape punishment after being pictured striking Jorginho in the side of his head with his arm shortly after Havertz's tackle. The Brazilian midfielder was then involved in a scuffle with Rice after kicking the ball at Havertz as he attempted to take a quick free-kick.
