Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has responded to Mauricio Pochettino after the Chelsea head coach snubbed a handshake at the end of a thrilling encounter between the two sides on Sunday. It came as eight goals were scored, controversial penalties were awarded and each side couldn't be split.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring from the spot after he was brought down by Marc Cucurella in the box, a decision that many went on to question. Just minutes later Thiago Silva brought the game level with a header from a corner, before Raheem Sterling put the side ahead against his old team.

It was a set-piece that would be Chelsea's undoing though as Manuel Akanji found himself free to nod home a cross in first-half stoppage time. Haaland then grabbed a brace shortly after the break, but Nicolas Jackson would strike back with a simple finish to level it once again.

In a chaotic match, it seemed as though there were still goals to be had in the dying seconds and that's exactly what happened as Rodri's strike in the final minutes seemingly won the game for City. Fast forward a few minutes and it was a former player that put them to the sword once more as Cole Palmer scored from the penalty spot to end the game 4-4.

Pochettino was far from happy with referee Anthony Taylor after the game though as he marched straight to the referee to make his feelings clear. The match official booked the manager, but it was an action that he later regretted and wished to apologise about in his post-match press conference.

"I need to apologise to Anthony [Taylor], and the referees and the fourth official," Pochettino said. "Because in this moment I I feel that maybe Raheem can go through and go to score the fifth and it is moment I turn when finished the game to Anthony and say 'What the...' You know. He's going on. I said 'why stop in this moment? No, the action' And then when I turn say, 'I deserve to be booked'. Yes, I crossed the limit and I want to apologise. It's not a good image for me and for football for this type of behaviour."

However, by marching towards the officials, Pochettino also inadvertently snubbed a handshake from Guardiola following the final whistle. When asked about the situation, the Man City boss told reporters: "No problem [with Pochettino]. It's not a problem. I don't want to say one word. It's completely fine. The emotions happen to me sometimes. It's fine."
