There was joy and despair for Tottenham Hotspur's loan players at their clubs across England and the continent this week.

Spurs have a mixed group of loan players getting game time at clubs in the Premier League, Football League, Germany, Netherlands and Turkey, with some of them youngsters racking up much-needed experience under the belts, some looking to earn themselves a permanent move away and others just looking to catch the head coach Ange Postecoglou's eye before a decision will be made next summer on their future.

Here's how Tottenham's eight loan players got on this week away from the club.

Tanguy Ndombele

Tanguy Ndombele has been struggling for game time at Galatasaray, with just one start to his name since joining. Last week he got five minutes from the bench in the 2-1 home win against Besiktas and then 10 minutes in the Champions League 3-1 defeat at home to Bayern Munich.

The performance in the latter game drew some criticism from fans, including one moment when the Frenchman lost the ball and then failed to track back afterwards.

Then on Saturday Ndombele missed Galatasaray's 1-0 win at Rizespor with what was reported to be an injury.

In contrast, former Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez has started the majority of the matches since his summer move to the Turkish side.

Ndombele will hope to get his season up and running after a time in which his fitness levels have been questioned by the Turkish media. Galatasaray have an option to buy the Frenchman after this season-long loan, but he is yet to prove that could be a wise investment.

Sergio Reguilon

Sergio Reguilon got 17 minutes from the bench as Manchester United lost 3-0 at home to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Spaniard had returned from four matches out with a muscular injury to start in the 1-0 Champions League victory against Copenhagen in midweek.

During a tough period for the club, Reguilon had been one of United's better players before the injury which has hindered his progress in Manchester.

Joe Rodon

Joe Rodon has been a regular starter for Leeds United but he suffered an injury scare when he limped off 64 minutes into the 4-1 win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

"Joe Rodon felt something in his hamstring, not an injury, but due to the workload I had to take him out," said Leeds boss Daniel Farke. "Joe didn't want to risk anything, I don't think it's a major injury. It would be beneficial over the next one or two days that we calm the load a bit and we have a bit more time until we play on Friday evening."

Leeds will need the 26-year-old back for their big match on Friday against fellow promotion hopefuls and Championship table-toppers Leicester City, featuring Rodon's former Spurs team-mate Harry Winks.

Rodon has been earning praise for his consistent displays for Leeds and earned a seven for his performance against Huddersfield from Leeds Live with the review: "Very good. Mopped up any danger that Huddersfield did bring to the Leeds backline."

Djed Spence

Djed Spence is nearing a return next month after suffering an injury to his lateral collateral ligament in his knee following a challenge during training and the right-back will miss eight weeks of action in total for loan club Leeds.

"Djed is also in the last stages of his rehab," said Farke. "I hope both of them, Stuart [Dallas] and Djed can return back to team training pretty soon and then I guess Djed was also out for about eight weeks, so it's not like the first day back in team training he'll be available for the game, he also needs a bit of training, but I hope that's pretty soon, in the next days.

"Perhaps 10 days, 14 days that he will return back to team training but he hasn't joined us yet."

Troy Parrott

Troy Parrott continues to be used as a substitute at Excelsior Rotterdam despite having notched three goals in his past five Eredivisie matches.

The 21-year-old came off the bench on Sunday for the final 24 minutes as Excelsior lost 4-1 at Volendam. Parrott had scored the previous weekend in the 4-2 home defeat to Zwolle after entering the field of play with 18 minutes to go.

The Republic of Ireland international will now be hoping to make his first start for the seventh-placed Dutch side when they travel to Den Bosch in the KNVB Cup first round on Wednesday before welcoming Alkmaar in the league on Saturday.

Japhet Tanganga

Japhet Tanganga will have a new Augsburg manager in Jess Thorup after head coach Enrico Maaßen was relieved of his duties.

The Spurs defender is still awaiting his first match for the Bundesliga side after joining them on loan with an option for the German outfit to buy him, which becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met.

The 24-year-old Spurs academy product arrived with a knee injury and is yet to make his first Bundesliga appearance.

Dane Scarlett

Dane Scarlett continues to get minutes from the bench as well as Ipswich continue their startling start to the season in the Championship.

The 19-year-old got 13 minutes under his belt in the 3-2 win at home against Plymouth on Saturday, having played a minute less in the 1-0 victory at Bristol City in midweek.

The Tractor Boys are absolutely flying and sit second in the Championship under former Spurs man Kieran McKenna's stewardship, with 11 wins from their first 13 matches and 29 goals scored and 15 conceded.

Ipswich's form and goalscoring has meant Scarlett has needed to be patient but in McKenna the England U21 international has a big admirer so those minutes will continue to rack up as will his experience and development.

Alfie Devine

Alfie Devine scored his second goal of the season for Port Vale with an acrobatic effort in the 2-1 home defeat to Cheltenham in League One on Saturday.

It came from a corner kick on 32 minutes, with the 19-year-old midfielder in the right place at the right time to leap into the air and acrobatically volley home a loose ball into the roof of the net.

It was the teenager's second goal since making the move to Staffordshire having scored a dramatic match-winning penalty at Oxford last month. He has also provided two assists.

On Tuesday, Vale will be in action once again as they travel to Mansfield Town in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Devine is taking his early steps into senior football and has been drawing plenty of praise for adaptation so far.
