Here is your morning Arsenal digest on Saturday, November 18.

Mikel Arteta criticised

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O'Hara has criticised Mikel Arteta for his passionate rant following the Gunners' 1-0 loss to Newcastle United earlier this month. Arteta was charged by the FA on Thursday afternoon, with O'Hara now claiming that the Spaniard deserves a ban.

O’Hara told TalkSPORT: “I think he’s out of order. The decision he is moaning about, we all know the referees can have a bit of a stinker and VAR has let teams down but (Wolves manager) Gary O’Neil should be the one who is coming out and making statements because he has had some howlers.

“That decision that went against him (Arteta) against Newcastle, I have looked at it back on the Sky Sports stuff when they have looked at it and gone through the process. It wasn’t conclusive that the ball was out, it wasn’t a clear and obvious error that it was a foul on Gabriel, it’s a goal.

“Alright it took time, it took some few minutes and that’s frustrating and they can improve that to make things quicker but the decision was right. For him to come out and slaughter the referees when referees are taking enough stick at the moment, it just puts more pressure on referees and more stick coming their way. I think he is out of order, I think he deserves a ban.”

Ousmane Diomande interest

Arsenal are keen to sign Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. Ricardo Sousa, who coached Diomande during his loan spell at CD Mafra, namedropped the Gunners when discussing teams who admire the 19-year-old.

"He’s one of those players who doesn’t make mistakes," Sousa told O Jogo, via Leonino. "Manchester City’s main scout called me (during Diomande’s time at Mafra).

Bayern Munich duo should be targeted

Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has urged his former side to try and sign Bayern Munich midfielders Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka ahead of the January transfer window. Speaking to Compare.Bet, Petit said: “Declan Rice’s priority for Arsenal should be to maintain the balance of the side and to win the ball back for his team. He does those things so well. I think he is wasted a bit in that number 8 role where [Granit] Xhaka played last season because he is such a brilliant holding midfielder."

The Frenchman added: “The main two players I would target if I was Arsenal would be Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.

“They are both incredible players with huge experience who have both been at Bayern for a while and would maybe like a new challenge. Goretzka has played at such a high level for so long and is still only 28, and I think Kimmich would be great for Arsenal, even if the price tag may be a bit expensive.”
