Manchester City are keen on signing Brighton & Hove Albion starlet Evan Ferguson, according to iNews.

Ferguson, who has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent times, has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe. Aged just 18, the Seagulls youngster has already scored four league goals this term, including a stunning hat-trick against Newcastle United on Saturday evening.

That kind of form hasn't gone unnoticed either, with Pep Guardiola's City now said to be interested in signing the Ireland international. The current Premier League champions already have the likes of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez at their disposal, with the thought of the former alongside Ferguson a scary prospect indeed for opposition defenders.

The talented teenager has reportedly been valued at around £120million by Brighton, who are notorious for being tough negotiators when selling their best players. Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi admitted it was good news that the summer transfer window closes before Ferguson's aforementioned hat-trick over the weekend, although he made no secret that his side are unlikely to be able to keep hold of the youngster for the long-term future.

"Yes, that's good news," De Zerbi said when asked if he was glad the window closed before his striker's impressive display. "Yes [clubs will want him] but it's normal for Brighton to sell their players.

"The most important thing for Brighton is not to keep the most important player but to find a replacement. This is the right work we have to do.

"He knows the way to score in incredible [ways]."
