Lukasz Fabianski was happy to give West Ham United fans something to sing about after their 1-0 FA Cup win over Brentford.

The Hammers sit 17th in the Premier League, have failed to win any of their last five top-flight games, and are out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

However, they recorded a morale-boosting victory over the Bees in round three of the competition thanks to Said Benrahma's 25-yard strike at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday.

Manager David Moyes hoped this triumph would be a turning point in the east London club's season and now goalkeeper Fabianski has made similar sentiments. The Polish international also sent a message to the supporters after a difficult season.

When asked if it was important to secure this win given West Ham's league form, he replied: "You always say it's important. For us, and the whole situation we’re finding ourselves in at the moment, it’s all about building confidence in every possible competition and every possible game.

"That’s what we wanted to get out of it [at Brentford]. Obviously, we wanted to advance in the cup but the main thing is the performance and getting a result."

On the fans, he added: "They’ve been through a lot in recent times, obviously in a negative way. So we’re happy they could have something positive to sing about. Hopefully, there’ll be more games like that coming in the near future."
