National League champions Leyton Orient have named Ross Embleton as their interim head coach following the passing of manager Justin Edinburgh.

He will be assisted by Danny Webb as interim assistant coach and captain Jobi McAnuff who becomes player/coach for the O's.

"I am incredibly proud," Emleton told the club's official website .

"I'm privileged to be stepping into this opportunity to try to be able to help club through what is going to be a very, very tough period."

Embleton also paid tribute to Edinburgh, who died on June 8 after leading Orient back into the Football League as National League winners ahead of Salford City last season.

"No-one will ever forget Justin," he said. "He's made an impression, selfishly, on me and my family in a way that no-one I've ever met has managed to do.

Ross Embleton during his time as Swindon Town manager.

"To have known someone for 18 months and to make it feel like 18 years, it is vitally important that everything we do at this football club, whether that is me as interim head coach or new players, that Justin remains a pivotal part of that."

Prior to his new appointment, Embleton had worked as an assistant coach to Edinburgh.

Webb managed Orient for a 12-game spell between January and March 2017 and returned to the club as a youth coach in July that year.

First team captain McAnuff is currently studying for his UEFA A coaching qualification.
