Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will be hoping to welcome back captain Martin Odegaard for next weekend's Premier League clash with Brentford. The Norway international has been sidelined since the Carabao Cup loss to West Ham, missing the last three games.

Amid an ongoing hip injury, Odegaard missed the Newcastle, Sevilla and Burnley games due to concussion. It has since been confirmed that the 24-year-old took a ball to the face during a training session at London Colney.

As per the concussion rules, players must rest for six days and be symptom free before returning. Odegaard was subsequently left out of the Norway squad this month to allow him to build up his fitness.

Fortunately for Arsenal, it looks like Odegaard has a strong chance in featuring at Brentford on Saturday evening. Norway head coach Stale Solbakken provided an encouraging update on the playmaker's fitness in his pre-Scotland press conference.

"I've just come from a 45-minute talk with Martin. He is getting better and better and gradually stepping up," he said. "It has been more or less three weeks without any special training, so it is important to take things step by step.

"Both he and Arsenal probably hope that he is available for the Brentford match."

Another player who will be hoping to return to Premier League action next weekend is Gabriel Jesus. The striker went off in the 2-1 Champions League win over Sevilla after clutching his hamstring late on in the game.

Jesus has missed the last five games but was called-up to the Brazil national team. After being left out of the squad against Colombia last week, it's expected that the 26-year-old will be part of the team to face Argentina on Wednesday and football.london understands that Jesus is expected to be ready for the Brentford game.

"I talked to Gabriel and he didn't come here without planning," Brazil boss Diniz said. "He said he's feeling good, he's already doing certain things and when I spoke to him we had two more weeks, 10 days at least till the first game [against Colombia] and 15 days 'til the second one [against Argentina].

"He is in good condition, we are doing things with great care. As soon as he arrived we made a new MRI we [are] treating him very carefully."

Jesus' Brazilian star Gabriel Martinelli is also set to be OK for Brentford after playing the full 90 minutes, and scoring, in the 2-1 loss to Colombia. The left winger had appeared to clutch his right hamstring in the win over Burnley but it seems that he's fit and ready.

Elsewhere, Ben White could be a doubt after picking up a knock before the international break. He missed the win over Burnley and Arteta confirmed that the club doctors are looking at him.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jorginho both picked up minor issues against the Clarets, with the former having problem with his contact lenses and the latter receiving a few scrapes and bruises from some heavy challenges coming in from Vincent Kompany's side. Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe are both also expected to miss out against Brentford.

Finally, Jurrien Timber will still remain on the sidelines for an extended period after his brutal knee injury just 47 minutes into his Arsenal debut on the opening weekend of the season. The issue has ruled him out of any footballing activity since, but has undergone surgery and is now in the rehabilitation phase of his recovery.
