The revolving door at Tottenham Hotspur continues to spin and plenty of players have come and gone from the club but how are those who departed doing now?

Spurs have attempted to overhaul their squad in recent years with not many players still remaining in Ange Postecoglou's squad from what Mauricio Pochettino had at his disposal four years ago at the Champions League final against Liverpool. Some very talented players have walked out of the door as well as some who either never really got a chance or were not able to make an impression at the north London outfit.

Here's a look at all 33 of the first team players who have left Tottenham permanently since that final in Madrid either through transfers, the end of their contracts or their loan spell came to a close and how they have done since.

Harry Kane

Let's get the most painful one out of the way first. Yes Harry Kane left this summer and yes he's found scoring goals in the Bundesliga even easier than the vast amounts he netted in the Premier League. In Germany, he's already got 17 Bundesliga goals after just 11 matches, which is more already than the joint top scorers Niclas Fullkrug and Christopher Nkunku ended up with last season in the competition. He's also got four Champions League goals in as many matches, so yes the England captain is doing fine.

Harry Winks

Harry Winks has been a key part of Leicester's drive to get back into the Premier League. He's played almost every minute of every game for them in the Championship with 16 appearances and he scored the winning goal for them at QPR last month.

The Foxes sit top of the table and the 27-year-old could very well be back in the top flight next season with Enzo Maresca's men.

Davinson Sanchez

While Tanguy Ndombele might have been struggling to get into Galatasaray's team since joining in September, Davinson Sanchez has had no such issues.

The Colombian has been a near constant starter for the Turkish side in the Super Lig and Champions League since making the switch after the English transfer window closed.

Lucas Moura

The Brazilian has experienced both joy and despair since leaving Tottenham at the end of his contract. The 31-year-old won the Copa do Brasil with Sao Paulo, scoring in the semi-final second leg against Corinthians before starting in both legs of the final against Flamengo.

Lucas then suffered a muscle injury in a heavy 5-0 league defeat at Palmeiras in late October and has not returned to action yet, although he has recently returned to working on the grass as he continues his recovery.

Clement Lenglet

The Frenchman remained in the Premier League after his loan spell at Tottenham ended, signing on loan with Aston Villa from Barcelona.

The 28-year-old centre-back has not yet been used from the bench in the Premier League for Unai Emery's high-flying side but Lenglet has played every minute in the Europa Conference League for them.

Arnaut Danjuma

Another Spurs loanee who has stayed in the Premier League, Danjuma went on loan from Villarreal to Everton, the club he rejected at the last moment in order to sign for Tottenham in January.

The Dutchman started the season with plenty of minutes and a goal at Sheffield United in the Premier League and another strike at Doncaster in the Carabao Cup, but has found himself unused on the bench for four of the past five league matches.

Matt Doherty

The Irishman departed Spurs in January this year amid the complete mess of his move to Atletico Madrid, which was originally meant to be a loan deal until the club realised they had too many players out on international loans.

So Doherty's contract was instead mutually terminated. He remained in Madrid for the remainder of that season, only getting 16 minutes from the bench across two La Liga appearances two months apart. Otherwise he was an unused substitute in every league match for Diego Simeone's team.

The right-back then returned to his old side Wolves on a free transfer last summer and has made appearances for them this season, including coming off the bench in the victory against Spurs last week.

Steven Bergwijn

The Dutchman left Tottenham looking for regular football and he has certainly had it back in the Netherlands at Ajax. Last season he scored 16 goals, including two in the Champions League, and laid on six assists in 45 matches.

So far this campaign the 26-year-old has six goals and two assists in 15 matches for an Ajax side struggling this season in 12th place in the Eredivisie, having recently been bottom of the early table.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

The Southend-born USA international really increased his development under a certain Ange Postecoglou after leaving Tottenham permanently in 2022 after the Australian pushed for his permanent arrival after his loan spell.

He won five trophies in two years with Postecoglou, including the treble last season before his manager went in the other direction to Carter-Vickers and joined Spurs.

The 25-year-old continues to be a key figure under new boss Brendan Rodgers, around a hamstring injury suffered early in the season.

Jack Clarke

The 22-year-old has been a revelation for Sunderland in the Championship this season, scoring nine goals in 16 matches from the left wing. The previous season he racked up 11 goals and 14 assists in helping the Black Cats reach the play-offs and the club rejected a string of bids from Burnley in the summer with Vincent Kompany looking to take Clarke up to the Premier League with them.

Clarke moved from Spurs to Sunderland in the summer of 2022 on a permanent deal after having been on loan there for half a season, helping them get promoted to the Championship.

Previously he had spent three years at Tottenham, working under Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason and Antonio Conte in between loans to Leeds, QPR, Stoke and Sunderland. He did not make a single Premier League appearance for the club, but did make two appearances for Spurs in the Europa League, one in the Europa Conference League qualifying stage and one in the FA Cup.

Pierluigi Gollini

The goalkeeper only spent one season at Tottenham, never becoming the replacement for Hugo Lloris that Fabio Paratici expected him to be. Instead that role has passed to another Italian in Guglielmo Vicario.

Since returning to Atalanta when his loan ended, Gollini went on loan for half a season to Fiorentina and then to Napoli on an 18-month loan. He made 13 appearances across the season and won the Serie A title with Napoli. This season he has appeared once, in the most recent 1-0 defeat at home to Empoli.

Dele Alli

Still just 27-years-old, Dele Alli hopefully still has plenty of football ahead of him. It hasn't worked out for him at either Everton or Besiktas on loan since departing Tottenham in January 2022.

The midfielder bravely spoke about his struggles off the pitch this year and everyone is now hoping for the best for him on his return from injury. Everton's financial issues, with Spurs owed more money if he reaches a certain level of appearances for them, mean it could well be that Dele ends up playing elsewhere from January onwards.

Juan Foyth

The versatile young Argentine left for Villarreal on loan in 2020 and after impressing and winning the Europa League with them, the Spanish side had little hesitation in making his move a permanent one in 2021.

Still only 25, Pochettino often used the centre-back as a right-back and he has continued to make that position his own in Spain, making 109 appearances for Villarreal, while scoring four goals and laying on four assists.

Foyth also has 18 caps for Argentina, appearing from the bench late on in the semi-final of the World Cup against Croatia and getting his medal after the victory against France in the final.

Toby Alderweireld

The 34-year-old Belgian has also enjoyed trophy success since leaving Spurs. He departed Tottenham for Qatar club Al-Duhail in 2021, winning the Qatari Cup with them.

He then returned home to Belgian to captain his hometown club Royal Antwerp. The centre-back had a fairy-tale season last time out with the team, first winning the Belgian Cup and then in June this year he scored the dramatic 94th minute goal that grabbed a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Genk and took Antwerp to their first league title in 66 years.

After retiring from international football earlier this year, a play-off win against AEK Athens in August meant Alderweireld also led Antwerp into the Champions League group stages for the first time in their history.

Moussa Sissoko

The Frenchman left Spurs for Watford in 2021, making his debut the same week in August against Tottenham. He was only at the Hertfordshire club for a season as they ended up relegated from the Premier League at the end of that campaign.

Now 34, Sissoko is back in France in Ligue 1 with Nantes, where he was a regular starter last season as they just escaped relegation by a point but has this year started only once so far for the team who are in ninth spot after 12 matches.

Joe Hart

Another player who has experienced Ange Postecoglou and been left raving about the Australian. The former England goalkeeper departed Spurs for a nominal fee and won five trophies under the now Spurs boss at Celtic.

The 36-year-old has remained as the Scottish club's number one under returning manager Brendan Rodgers.

Erik Lamela

The Argentine left Spurs for Sevilla in the summer of 2021 after eight years at the club. He has made 85 appearances for the Spanish side since, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.

Most importantly he scored a dramatic extra-time goal this year against Juventus in the Europa League semi-final which sent Sevilla to the final. There he faced former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho and his Roma side and Lamela scored during the penalty shoot-out as Sevilla won the Europa League - the first trophy of his career if you're not including the Puskas award for that rabona goal against Arsenal.

Danny Rose

Rose spent the last year of his Tottenham career unregistered for the first team and helped out the U21s on and off the pitch during that period. He moved to Watford on a free transfer in 2021 but left after their relegation to the Championship at the end of that season.

Still only 33, Rose has not technically retired and looked in great shape during Spurs kit man Steve Dukes' charity match earlier this year, but he hasn't played competitively for anyone since 2022. He has been doing punditry work in the intervening period.

Paulo Gazzaniga

The Argentinean goalkeeper left Tottenham in 2021 on a free transfer and joined Fulham. He played 15 times for the London side before making the loan move, later turned permanent, to Spanish side Girona.

The 31-year-old is the number one at the club in a season in which they have stunned La Liga, sitting top of the table with just one defeat after 13 matches.

Serge Aurier

The Ivory Coast international left Tottenham in August 2021 with the mutual termination of his contract, despite it having a year left to go.

Aurier went to Villarreal but as injuries struck he ended up becoming the back-up to former Tottenham man Juan Foyth throughout the season.

The 30-year-old is now at Nottingham Forest where he has impressed over the past two seasons, helping Steve Cooper's men stay up in the Premier League this year.

Tottenham Hotspur's Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale gestures to fans refusing to leave after the English Premier League football match between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, on May 19, 2021.
Gareth Bale returned to Tottenham this month as a guest at their match against Chelsea

Gareth Bale

You might know this chap. He's Welsh, became a superstar with Spurs and then won everything at Real Madrid before coming back for a farewell season at Tottenham.

Gareth Bale went back to Madrid and saw out his contract in Spain with a season that brought little game time. He then went to LA FC in MLS and added yet another trophy to his glittering career, with a last-gasp headed goal in the MLS Cup to tie things up before LA won the shootout and their first title.

After the World Cup, Bale announced his retirement from football in January this year and he's very much enjoying life and golf since and popped back to Spurs this month to speak to the crowd at half-time in the game against Chelsea.

Carlos Vinicius

Just the season on loan at Spurs from Benfica, the 28-year-old Brazilian has since played for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he contributed seven goals and seven assists in 38 appearances, before making the move to Fulham in the summer of 2022 for a return to Premier League football.

Vinicius has got seven goals and three assists for the Londoners in 40 appearances and scored the winner against Luton in the Premier League in September. He also netted in the Carabao Cup win against Norwich a week or so later.

Kyle Walker-Peters

Still just 26, Kyle Walker-Peters left Tottenham in the summer of 2020 and went on to become an established Premier League right-back and has stuck with Southampton in the Championship despite plenty of interest in his services.

The full-back has played 136 times for the Saints, scoring four goals and providing nine assists. He only actually made 24 appearances for Tottenham in all. He hasn't missed a minute of Championship football this season as Russell Martin looks to take the team back into the Premier League.

Jan Vertonghen

The former Spurs Player of the Year left the club at the end of his contract in the summer of 2020. He spent two years in Portugal with Benfica before returning home to Belgium and Anderlecht after the eventual mutual termination of his three-year contract.

Vertonghen admitted he had not wanted to leave Benfica, enjoying his time in the country with his family, but was eventually left with little choice as it was made clear he would not play much football and with tears in his eyes made the decision to uproot his wife and children.

He was named captain of Anderlecht and continues to play international football for Belgium as their record appearance maker with 152 games to his name for his country.

Michel Vorm

The Dutchman left Tottenham first in 2019 before re-signing a few months later as cover for the injured Hugo Lloris and then completely left in 2020 and a few months later announced his retirement at 37 from the game.

The Netherlands international did return to Spurs once again as a goalkeeping coach to help out Ryan Mason in his first spell as caretaker boss the following year.

Gedson Fernandes

Still just 24, the Portuguese signed for Spurs on an 18-month loan but only ended up lasting a year, making 14 appearances, before heading back to Benfica.

Since then the midfielder has worked his away around Turkey, playing for Galatasaray, Caykur Rizespor and now Beskitas where he has spent the past 18 months or so as a regular starter.

Christian Eriksen

We know all about Christian Eriksen and the miracle that he is still playing football today after that horrendous moment at Euro 2020.

The 31-year-old left Spurs in January 2020 before winning Serie A with Antonio Conte and Inter Milan. After recovering from his heart issues, he impressed at Brentford on a short-term deal and now is in his second season at Manchester United.

Kieran Trippier

Another Spurs player back and impressing in the Premier League, Trippier is a mainstay at Newcastle United as they look to become a Premier League force again while competing in the Champions League.

Yet another player who left Tottenham and won a title, the 33-year-old played 86 times for Atletico Madrid, having left not long after that Champions League final defeat with Spurs, and became a La Liga winner with the Spanish side before returning to England in 2022.

Vincent Janssen

It never really worked for Vincent Janssen at Tottenham and his career has taken him to Mexico and Belgium since with plenty of success.

He made the unexpected move to Monterrey in the summer of 2019 and helped them win their first league title that year before playing his part as they won the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021. He scored 24 goals and laid on five assists in 94 matches for the Mexican side.

He then linked up with Alderweireld at Royal Antwerp as the duo helped the Belgian club to the title and cup double and qualifying for the Champions League group stages for the first time in their history. Janssen has netted 30 goals in 67 matches for Antwerp, with six assists.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou

Add the French-born Cameroon international to the list of those who have left Spurs and won silverware. He joined Besiktas in 2019 and played for four years in Turkey, helping them to the Super Lig title in 2021, also winning the Turkish Cup and Super Cup that season.

In August this year Nkoudou joined Saudi Pro League side Damac on a free transfer, where he has already notched six goals and two assists in his first 12 matches.

Victor Wanyama

Now 32, the Kenya international is still plying his trade for Montreal in MLS and had been a regular starter until the last couple of months for the Canadian side.

He initially had announced that he would not be renewing his contract with the side last year only to pen a new two-year deal with them in January this year.

Technically he also has silverware to his name, having captained Montreal to victory in 2021 over Toronto to win the Canadian Championship Final.

Fernando Llorente

The experienced Spaniard played in Italy for both Napoli, winning the Coppa Italia, and then Udinese after leaving Tottenham at the end of his contract in the summer of 2019.

He then played for Eibar for a year before his contract there expired last year. In February this year, the 38-year-old announced his retirement from the game.

Josh Onomah

The young midfielder left Tottenham for Fulham in the summer of 2019 as part of the deal that brought Ryan Sessegnon to north London.

In that first season he helped his new side back into the Premier League, netting in the play-off semi-finals and playing in the final against Brentford. Now only 26, after a knee injury, the England U20 World Cup winner then fell out of favour at times, which meant he only played 76 times across three-and-a-half years

His contract was mutually terminated in January this year and he played for Preston until the end of last season. He is currently a free agent, having trained at various teams including Stoke City.
