Jorginho has become the first Arsenal player to make their feelings clear after Saturday's controversial 1-0 loss away to Newcastle. The game was decided by a second half Anthony Gordon goal that fuelled fierce debate on the pitch as well as off it with both managers giving opposing views whilst fans and pundits alike all gave their opinions too.

Mikel Arteta certainly wasn't downplaying the decision as he gave an empassioned and also furious press conference after the match, lamenting the referees and VAR following three seperate incidents that lead to Gordon firing in after half time. "We have to talk about the result because you have to talk about how the hell this goal stand ups and it’s incredible," he said.

"I feel embarrassed but I have to be the one now coming here to try to defend the club and please ask for help, because it's an absolute disgrace that this goal is allowed; it’s an absolute disgrace." The Gunners were unable to respond to the goal having had the majority of possession and control of the game largely throughout proceedings, only getting one shot on target against Eddie Howe's men.

All the talk after the game was about the officials and the choice not to disallow the goal first for the ball going out of play and then for a push on Gabriel Magalhaes alongside a handball from Joelinton and potential offside at the same time. The VAR process took longer than usual due to the strands in the build-up to the goal and once it was given there was no hiding the shock and frustration of the visiting players.

Kai Havertz had already been on edge after a poor first half tackle went without major punishment despite the aggressive nature of it and red shirts were quick to surround the referee after his decision was made official at St James' Park. Now the true thoughts of those present is coming out with Arsenal's captain for the day becoming the first to bite.

Jorginho took to social media on Sunday morning to vent his frustration, writing: "Proud of the team. Unacceptable what happened though. But we keep fighting." Jorginho was taken off with his team chasing the game late on but Fabio Vieira was unable to make the desired impact from the bench.

The Gunners will now be looking to respond to the defeat on the pitch as they take on Sevilla in Wednesday with the aim of taking one step closer towards Champions League knockout qualification. They will be attempting to stop a run of just one win defeats in four domestic games after beating Manchester City before the international break.

Arsenal lost to West Ham in midweek but failed to hit back against Newcastle, not managing to take advantage of their territorial superiority.
