Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall has outlined where he hopes to strengthen his squad ahead of next Thursday's WSL transfer deadline.

The Gunners have had a busy summer already with the additions of Alessia Russo, Laia Codina, Amanda Ilestedt and Cloe Lacasse. Three of the four were in action against Linkopings FC in their UEFA Women's Champions League first round qualifier on Wednesday night, with Codina watching on from home having only recently made the move to North London from Barcelona.

Caitlin Foord, Stina Blackstenius and Lina Hurtig were among the goals for Arsenal in their 3-0 victory in Sweden, lining up a tie with Paris FC on Saturday. The winners of that fixture will book their place in the second qualifying round with the play-offs set to take place in October.

Eidevall spoke about squad depth post-match after Katie McCabe was deployed at right back for the final 30 minutes of the game. He hinted there's still business to be done before the window slams shut next week.

"We are still in the market for a right-back and maybe one other position as well," he told reporters in his post-match press conference. "If we don’t find the right fit then we have three really competent full-backs in Noelle Maritz, Katie McCabe and Steph Catley.

"Then it is about how we use them so we don’t get stuck with one who can only play on the right and two who play on the left, although Noelle can play on the left as well. Katie, just like Noelle, can play on the other side. I am sure Steph can do it as well but we just haven’t tried that yet."

The Arsenal boss also heaped praise on their new signings, Lacasse in particular standing out. "It’s very important for us to have the option to play with wide forwards who can play wider and press in one-on-one situations," Eidevall continued.

"I am really happy with Cloe coming in because she is quite similar to Beth Mead. That provides us with good depth and quality on the right side.

"I think time is essential when we try to develop quality and we haven’t had much time. So given our preparation, I thought they (the new signings) were all great today."
