Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will be thankful that he won't have another star heading for the injury room following his side's late 2-1 loss to Wolves at Molineux this afternoon.

Despite an early goal through Brennan Johnson, which was set up perfectly through a Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro combination, Spurs were unable to hang onto their lead after a fantastic volleyed effort from Wolves substitute Pablo Sarabia drew them level in the 90th minute.

It was poor defensive errors that cost them late on though, with Sarabia providing the assist for Mario Lemina's faint touch which guided the ball past Guglielmo Vicario for the win. The result means Spurs slip further down the table after last week's calamitous 4-1 loss to rivals Chelsea.

However, they'll be happy that there were no injury updates necessary from the boss in his post-match press conference, with Johnson being the initial scare when he went down apparently clutching his calves. However, Postecoglou confirmed that his substitution a few minutes later was simply down to fatigue and nothing else.

"I hope [the goal will boost his confidence]. It's not the only measure. He's one of the ones I think could have been a bit more positive for us in the first half but again Brennan's not really had a clear run at it.

"He's had a real disrupted beginning to his career for us and I think the more we can get him into these situations there's definitely goals in him. There's more of a goal threat in him but again you could see at the end he ran out of legs because he hasn't played a lot of football since the start of the year."

The nerves come after an awful week for Spurs which was exacerbated by the loss of James Maddison and Mickey Van de Ven on Monday night against Chelsea, with the former suffering an ankle injury in the first half that saw him need to be subbed off.

Van de Ven was much of the same, with him in clear distress after trying to chase down Nicolas Jackson and appearing to suffer a serious hamstring issue. Both have been absolutely vital in the early success of Postecoglou's reign over the Spurs dugout, with the Australian making it very clear that they'll be sorely missed in the next few months.

"If I can go through them... Micky Van de Ven with a hamstring injury we knew was fairly significant. Probably a couple of months for him - looking into the new year.

"Madders, a lot worse than we thought. He came off with the ankle injury, but the next day wasn’t great so we sent him off for a scan. So again not great for him and probably into the new year for him."

Richarlison is another attacking option Postecoglou will be without after the Brazilian international underwent surgery earlier this week. The star shouldn't be too far off a return though, with his comeback scheduled for mid-December.

He said: "Richy had the operation, which we’d kind of scheduled anyway because Richy has been battling with it from day one and we thought with the international break coming up we thought it would be a good time to get it done. He should only be a month if everything goes well so not too long after the international break."

Elsewhere, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic remain out with long-term injuries, with Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma also out for the Aston Villa match through suspension after the international break.
