Ivan Toney has continued his hard work away from Brentford's training ground as he prepares to make his footballing return amid transfer interest from Arsenal and Chelsea. Both London clubs have listed the 27-year-old as a potential target for the January transfer window, with Toney set to make his playing comeback in the middle of that month after serving a lengthy ban for betting breaches.
During the second half of 2023, Toney has been regularly posting updates on his training plan before he was allowed back to work with his Brentford team-mates in September. The England international has since appeared in a friendly for the Bees where he scored in a 2-2 draw with Italian Serie B side Como.
Understandably Brentford are far from keen on losing arguably their best player right as he returns with a fresh £100million price tag emerging in an attempt to scare off potential suitors. Thomas Frank was also on hand to offer an update on Toney's state of mind last month without giving too much away.
He told the media last month: "He is happy at the club, I want him to stay. Ivan is happy to stay. He's happy at the club. What happens in the future is impossible to guess about." Thankfully for Frank, the priorities ahead of the winter window for both London clubs may have changed.
Thomas Partey suffering another injury setback has seen the Gunners look at instead signing a new midfielder, while Chelsea appear prepared to stick with Nicolas Jackson in the meantime, ahead of a possible summer move to sign Napoli's Victor Osimhen as they seek to find an "elite-level striker", according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
Perhaps in an attempt to get the two Premier League teams back interested in him, Toney has provided a number of new updates to Instagram with a look at his current training plan. In the previous international break, Toney updated followers that he was in Dubai but his training did not stop there and the same can be said about the current two-week pause.

On his story, Toney showed himself working on the exercise back on Wednesday morning before then sharing a post from trainer Jim Burnside of him in incredible shape in the gym which he has then reposted on his story with the added caption," if you want to be a lion, you must train with lions [lion emoji.]"
