If your head is beginning to look towards all things festive, then join Leah as she guides us to start thinking about preparing in anticipation. Here are Leah’s ten things to start thinking about now:
1. Light upon light
Many people ask about my 7,000 fairy lights on my tree. This year, I’ve added yet another string from Crocus. There is no quicker way to make a home feel like Christmas than with lights woven through banisters, doorways, or overloading the tree!
2. Lantern glow
Lanterns are going to feature heavily at My Mulberry House this year — flickering pools of warmth placed at doorsteps, on mantels, and down the dining table, hanging on ribbons in shadowed corners. Think of them as little beacons of welcome.
3. Pine cones gilded with Light
I adore Crocus’s lit pine cones. Scattered across a sideboard or tucked into greenery, they bring that woodland magic indoors.
4. A table to remember
This year, the tablecloth gets its moment: beautiful swirling bows, an essential decoration in its own right. It sets the scene for candlelight suppers and long afternoons of laughter.
5. The fruit of the season
The open fruit decorations from Crocus remind me of still-life paintings: pomegranates, oranges, berries. Timeless, abundant, and celebratory.
6. Doors & wreaths
Start thinking now about your wreath, whether you’ll go for traditional pine, eucalyptus, or a foraged masterpiece. Crocus has beautiful bases that you can decorate to your heart’s content.
7. Stocking surprises
It’s never too early to squirrel away stocking fillers. Crocus’s gardening accessories and little treasures make thoughtful gifts for green-fingered friends, as well as little woodland creatures to bring a smile to your little sprogs face.
8. A candlelit welcome
Order candles in every size now. Tall tapers for dinner, tea lights for nooks and crannies, chunky candles for lanterns. They sell out so quickly once December arrives.
9. Paper & ribbon
Nothing is more satisfying than gifts wrapped with care. I’m stocking up now on natural papers and soft silk ribbons, so that the wrapping feels as special as the gift itself.
10. A Season of scent
Finally, scent, orange and clove pomanders, pine branches, mulled spices simmering on the stove. The invisible thread that ties it all together.
