Leyton Orient’s League Two meeting with Walsall tomorrow has been postponed which could have an effect on what happens with their Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham’s scheduled third round tie in the Carabao Cup against Leyton Orient was postponed earlier this week after a number of their players tested positive for coronavirus, with reports suggesting that it was as high as 17 positive cases.
Because of that, their league meeting with Walsall has been postponed and it could cause havoc with their schedule for what is already a hectic season across the football calendar for clubs in all four professional leagues.
With the game postponed, it is yet to be confirmed when the league tie will be re-scheduled for.
"Due to the number of positive cases of Covid-19 within the Orient squad, the club has advised the EFL it considers it is unable to safely fulfil this weekend's fixture," an EFL statement read.
However, due to the nature of the rushed 2020/21 campaign, the fourth round of the Carabao Cup is set to take place next week, with the winner of Leyton Orient’s meeting with Spurs set to face Chelsea in the last 16 clash.
It is unknown yet what will happen to Spurs’ planned tie with Leyton Orient, with some suggestions being made that Spurs will be given a bye into the next round.
A decision on what happens next is expected shortly.
