Chelsea oversaw a complete squad overhaul in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino was announced as Blues boss with a squad that was bloated and struggled in the second half of the Premier League season.

What unfolded was the sale of a number of Chelsea stars who had won the Champions League with the club, to be replaced by a summer of spending. Some players left in controversy, others as legends and a few simply will have known they never had a future at the club long before they left.

football.london takes a look at how the players to depart have got on since leaving Stamford Bridge.

Edouard Mendy - The Senegal international is among the finalists for the title of Best African Goalkeeper at the CAF Awards following his move to Al-Ahli in the summer and has recorded five clean sheets from 15 appearances for the Saudi side. Mendy's side sit third in the Saudi Pro League.

Kalidou Koulibaly - The former Napoli defender is yet to taste defeat for Al-Hilal, and has helped them to sit top of the league. Koulibaly has even provided a goal and an assist within his first 14 appearances.

Mateo Kovacic - The Croatian midfielder sits top of the Premier League with Manchester City and has featured 14 times across all competitions. His contributions have come from a combination of the bench and the starting XI but injury following his return to Chelsea could now rule him out for three weeks.

The ex-Real Madrid ace appears happy to have completed his summer however, and is enjoying working under Pep Guardiola. He said: ‌"It's amazing and tough because I’m learning a lot of new things and I would have loved to come at an earlier age to learn. But it's never too late to learn. I think like that. So I'm happy I can learn from him and what he tells you."

Kai Havertz - The Germany international has been a consistent presence in Mikel Arteta's side but has failed to hit the ground running. Havertz as provided just one goal and an assist, with the benefit of a penalty, and has struggled to nail down a role for the Gunners.

Tiemoue Bakayoko - The midfielder saw his contract terminated via mutual consent following a disappointing second season on loan at AC Milan in 2022/23 and eventually found a move to Lorient. Bakayoko has made just four appearances for the French side, but consecutively after having to build his fitness initially.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - The Cobham product flourished in his start to life in Italy before missing October due to an adductor injury but returned to play an import role in AC Milan's win over PSG. Reports in Italy suggest such form in the Champions League, should it continue, will see a clause triggered to land the Blues a further £4.4million.

N'Golo Kante - The French midfielder has barely missed a minute for Al Ittihad and has been a consistent presence in the team having managed to maintain his fitness. Kante has provided a goal and four assists in his first 18 games for his new team.

Mason Mount - The former Chelsea star has struggled to impress at Manchester United and has yet to contribute a goal or an assist in his first 14 appearances. Mount has yet to secure a firm place in the Red Devils' starting lineup with Paul Scholes believing Bruno Fernandes has caused an issue for the 24-year-old.

He said: "I think he'd to play where Bruno Fernandes plays. I think the manager signed him as an attacking midfield player. But it upsets the balance of the team and upsets the legs he has in midfield. I really think he wanted to play him with Fernandes but the two of them playing in the team, it just doesn’t seem to be working now.

“It’s difficult to make a case for Mason because he’s not played enough games, so trying to come on here and say ‘he should be playing’, I don’t know, because he hasn’t played."

Cesar Azpilicueta - The Chelsea legend has provided a versatile option for Atletico Madrid for most of his stint since returning to Spain but Azpilicueta has fallen to the bench in recent weeks in La Liga.

Baba Rahman - The 29-year-old was released by Chelsea in the summer and completed a move to PAOK Thessaloniki. The defender has become the club's starting left-back in the Greek Super League and Europa Conference League but he has been unable to reclaim his spot on the international stage.

Christian Pulisic - The US winger has scored four goals and two assists for AC Milan and become an impactful figure in the Serie A side's rotation. Pulisic has missed Milan's last two league games due to injury however, and his team have won neither match. Remained in Italy to train rather than join up with his international side.

Ethan Ampadu - The Wales star has been a consistent presence in Leeds' midfield and helped his side to third in the division. Ampadu has been tipped as a future captain for his nation by teammate James Jordan.

He said: "As soon as I played with him the first time, we just clicked. I see him as a leader and I'm someone who studies him and how he plays because he's somewhere I want to get to.

"I could see him being captain one day. He's that high in my regard and I love playing with him. I feel so confident playing with him and we just bounce off each other."

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - The former Chelsea forward has scored just once since arriving in Marseille and has come in for criticism. The French side's president Pablo Longoria is confident his team will see more from Aubameyang however.

He told RMC Sport.: “When I see him training every day, I have no doubt (that he can rediscover his best level). Aubameyang is an international-level player. Could he improve his offensive efficiency? Yes. He has to criticise himself as well and live in reality. Will that happen? Yes. I’m sure of it, particularly because I see how he works everyday […] I believe that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the same Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the one that we saw at Barcelona, but in a different context in which I am sure he will emerge."

Callum Hudson-Odoi - Showed is promise with an outstanding goal on is debut but injury has stopped him in his tracks at Nottingham Forest.
