Chelsea's preparations for their trip to face Premier League leaders Tottenham are well underway and recent training sessions have seen Mauricio Pochettino find more options ahead of his return to north London. Armando Broja was confirmed as back in first team training and in contention for a place on the bench on Monday, while Mykhailo Mudryk has also featured in training.

The Blues boss went with a strong team in Chelsea's last match against Blackburn Rovers, though the 51-year-old did rotate some of his side with Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill both rested. The former was absent from the squad entirely as he was afforded the opportunity to recuperate.

Reece James, on the other hand, was provided with his first start since the Blues faced Liverpool in the opening week of the season. It was a welcome outing, though by no means a guarantee that he will be starting on Monday night.

Pochettino said on Friday: "I don't know. We'll see. We'll see first of all if he's available. Then if my decision is to play with him or not. Yes I think it was good for him to start a game after a few months. For the team, because he's our captain, he's a very important player. Now we need to assess him to see if he's ready to start or not on Monday."

It is Mudryk's return that could give Pochettino plenty to consider. The Ukraine international missed Chelsea's match with Brentford due to a muscle injury, having scored against Arsenal previously.

The 22-year-old formed part of attack that consistently challenged the Gunners and found success in an area the west London side have struggled as they went up by two goals. The Blues have been plagued by inconsistency in front of goal, with finding the net looking to be the key to improve Chelsea's form.

Should Mudryk be deemed match-fit, Pochettino will have to debate whether to once again employ the system he utilised to success against Arsenal. Like the Gunners, Tottenham are comfortable and confident on the ball and set to play high up the pitch.

Against Arsenal, Chelsea utilised Cole Palmer through the middle, to press high with Conor Gallagher, and left no focal point for central defenders to be drawn to. Raheem Sterling and Mudryk operated as wide forwards and found success to as Gallagher and Palmer roamed through the centre to pick up advantageous positions.

Pochettino's other option will be to maintain his confidence in Nicolas Jackson, who was still working his way back following a wrist operation on that occasion. Chelsea's head coach has spoken consistently about finding trust and confidence in his forwards, and dropping his only fully fit, senior forward option may not be the most obvious way to instil that into the Senegal forward.
