Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has delivered his prediction for Wednesday night's Carabao Cup clash between Arsenal and West Ham United. The Gunners have been in excellent form domestically, accruing 24 points from a possible 30 as they sit second in the table behind Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, the Hammers sit middle of the pile, currently ninth in the current standings having accumulated 14 points. The two sides will face off on Wednesday evening at the London Stadium, with Carragher backing David Moyes' men to come out on top.

Speaking to the EFL's official website, the former England international said: "This one’s a big one. It depends on what teams get put out because I’m not sure the changes West Ham will make with them being in the Europa League as well, so I’m going to go for West Ham on penalties.

"I think it’ll be a really tight game and Arsenal will make a few changes." Arsenal haven't won the League Cup for a fairly long time, last lifting the trophy back in 1993.

But Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has insisted that he takes the competition very seriously. "Yeah I live it exactly the same as the Premier League tomorrow," the Spaniard said in his pre-match press conference.

"I have the same thing in my tummy and the certain thing and same way to prepare and I’m going to be there, closer to the game, and I just want to win the game for sure."
