Jamie Carragher has disagreed with Gary Neville on the outcome of the Premier League title race this season as teams reach the ten-game mark in the campaign. In the early knockings so far, there have been a few surprises, rivalries renewed and plenty of excitement for the challenge ahead.
The division is currently led by Tottenham, a side that have shocked many with their lightning quick start to life under new boss Ange Postecoglou, though questions remain over whether they can sustain a title push. Arsenal sit second and just two points behind after picking up their charge from last year.
Level on points are Manchester City, the champions from last season that are looking to secure a historic fourth title victory in a row. Then there's Liverpool, who have experience beating the Cityzens and have looked rather resurgent under Jurgen Klopp as far as their start has been concerned.
With only a few points separating all four giant teams, there could well be an exciting battle for the title come the late stages of the season. It has naturally led to many discussions surrounding the possible winners and runners up when all is said and done in May next year.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher gave his thoughts on the situation with Sky Sports, with a prediction on how the contest will play out. "That today [Manchester City beating Manchester United], a big game, put on a show to let people know how good they are, they are still the team to beat," the pundit said.

"I think they'll win the league comfortably this season, I do! I don't think Liverpool are quite ready to mount a serious challenge. Arsenal, of course did that last season. Even though they've made a good start, I don't think they are playing as well as this time last season, so I don't think everything is 100 per cent there."
That is in contrast to fellow Sky Sports pundit Neville, who has swayed more towards Arsenal pipping City to the title, but agrees that Liverpool may not be involved. Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast last month, he claimed: "I think Liverpool are obviously involved in it [the title race] as well. They could [go all the way], they’re more likely to than Spurs, no doubt about that.
"My question mark is whether they’ve got enough solidity in midfield, enough defensive strength and power. So I don’t think Liverpool will quite get there, but they’re in the race, there’s no doubt, because of the manager. Their manager is absolutely outstanding, he’s one of the best. But I think it will be Arsenal and City again come towards the end.”
He went on to add earlier this month when speaking to Sky Sports: "The reason I predicted Arsenal to win the title is because I felt they got close last year, I thought they'd be close again and I thought there'd be a slight treble hangover for City. What's City's cause this year?
"They've achieved utopia, they can't do any more. When you've fought so long and hard to win a Champions League like they have and won the treble and repeated what Man Utd have done, there's got to be that little bit of a sigh of relief. I remember my most difficult season for United was the season after the treble."
It remains to be seen which of the pair will be correct by the close of the season, but before then there's set to be a host of twists and turns, heartache and joy for all those involved in another potentially tense title race.
