As things currently stand, four London teams have been assigned a ball number for tonight's Carabao Cup quarter-final draw. However, only one is guaranteed to still be alive in the competition as the final eight will be revealed over the next couple of hours.

Of the teams from the capital, it can be argued that the west London pair Chelsea and Fulham have the best chance of progressing as they face Championship opposition in Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town respectively, whilst West Ham United host Arsenal in the all-Premier League tie.

Ten top-flight sides have already fallen by the wayside in this season's Carabao Cup - including Manchester City - and another four in total will follow tonight as holders Manchester United host Newcastle United, Liverpool face Bournemouth away from home and Everton welcome Burnley to Goodison Park.

Their mission along with Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and Fulham is to join Middlesbrough and Port Vale in the next round after they qualified last night. Meanwhile, Ipswich and Blackburn will be flying the flag for the EFL sides tonight.

Teams will not have to wait too much longer to find out who they'll be playing the week commencing 18 December as the draw for the quarter-final will take before the night is out. In fact, at the conclusion of the aforementioned tie at Old Trafford, which has been selected for live television coverage, the remaining eight teams will discover their fate.

Unlike draws for European competitions, there is no seeding for this stage of the Carabao Cup, meaning anyone can be pitted against anyone, raising the prospect of some very exciting and intriguing ties.

So who could the three London sides get if they are all victorious in their respective fourth round ties? Well, we used a knockout stage simulator to determine who might get who in the draw, and the results were fascinating.

In this scenario, the winners of the West Ham vs Arsenal clash will face League One side Port Vale away from home. The possibility of this tie has to be viewed as the dream outcome for either David Moyes or Mikel Arteta as both managers would feel confident about beating the lowest-ranked team left in the competition.

The simulated draw hasn't been just as kind to Chelsea as they could face one of last season's finalists if they are able to dispatch Blackburn at Stamford Bridge. Elsewhere, Fulham could face a trip to Anfield if they overcome Ipswich and Liverpool knockout Bournemouth.

Simulated Carabao Cup quarter-final draw in full:

AFC Bournemouth or Liverpool vs Ipswich Town or Fulham

Port Vale vs West Ham United or Arsenal

Chelsea or Blackburn Rovers vs Manchester United or Newcastle United

Everton or Burnley vs Middlesbrough
