Welcome to football.london's live blog covering the Carabao Cup first-round draw and the Papa John's Trophy round one draw.

It is at this stage where EFL clubs dream of making it all the way to Wembley in order to battle it out for the first domestic trophy on offer in the English football calendar.

Tottenham Hotspur made it to the final in last season's Carabao Cup competition, but having sacked Jose Mourinho in the days building up to it, they were then beaten 1-0 by Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

City have now won the competition an impressive four years in a row.

The first-round stage of the competition will see 70 teams enter the draw, from the Championship, League One and League Two. The draw will be split into north and south sections.

We will then follow that with the draw for this season's Papa John's Trophy, which will see the under-21s of Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and West Ham involved.

You can follow all the updates in our blog below.

And that's that

Both Carabao Cup and Papa John's Trophy draws are completed for the first round.

You can recap everything below.

Thanks for following.

How it works

Details of the Papa John's Trophy on the EFL website are as follows:

The 16 Invited U21 teams will be placed into their respective Northern and Southern section Groups, with the 48 EFL Clubs placed into pre-determined Groups prior to the draw. Consideration has been given to ensure travel time is minimised and recovery time is maximised for players.

In addition, if there is a situation where two teams meet in the Group Stages for a second successive season, then the Club who was at home in 2020/21 will play away in 2021/22. All EFL Clubs will play two of their three matches at home in the Group Stages.
