All eyes are going to be on Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the course of this week with the summer transfer deadline edging ever closer. Ahead of the window closing for business at 11pm on Friday, Daniel Levy and the football club still have plenty left to do for Ange Postecoglou.

While of course the main focus will be on any further incomings to supplement the head coach's squad, the vast majority of Tottenham's transfer dealings will be outgoings with a good number of players needing to be moved on. There really is an awful lot for Tottenham to do in the transfer market and it promises to be a very interesting week in north London as Postecoglou's dream squad starts to take shape.

As we are now only days away from the summer transfer market coming to a close, here we take a look at the current state of play at Tottenham.

Incomings

Active in the transfer market so far this summer with six new arrivals and Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski turning their loan moves into permanent deals, Spurs do not appear to be done in the transfer market just yet. Tottenham are looking to add to their attack before the deadline and football.london understands that Postecoglou has made Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson his number one attacking target for the final days of the window.

Talks have taken place over a deal and the Spurs boss will be hoping that a move for the Wales international can come to fruition as he has the qualities and versatility to become a huge hit in his system. Forest are believed to value their player at around £50million but Spurs will be looking to bring that price down in order to get their man, with the possibility of adding a player to a potential deal mooted.

Amid previous links with Gent hotshot Gift Orban, it appears that Johnson is very much the priority for Postecoglou and Spurs will be doing all they can to entice the 22-year-old to the capital. Another position Tottenham could well strengthen before deadline day is centre-back.

Adding to their defensive options so far this summer with both Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips signing on, Postecoglou told football.london out in Barcelona ahead of the new season that he wants another centre-back. Torino's Perr Schuurs and Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo are among those in the frame.

Adarabioyo's future should be decided one way or another before the week is out following so much speculation regarding his future over the course of the summer. A potential move to Monaco has so far failed to materialise and that could allow Spurs to nip in ahead of the Ligue 1 side and clinch a deal for the 25-year-old.

A midfielder may also be potentially on the cards for Tottenham. although that will likely rest on a potential departure for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid since the window opened for business. However, the Spanish side have had a few issues in regards to their finances and that may ultimately prove to be a huge stumbling block in a potential agreement between the sides.

Outgoings

Transfer exits are absolutely imperative ahead of deadline day with Tottenham needing to cut down on their numbers so they can submit a 25-man squad to the Premier League. Currently having 31 players over the age of 21, Tottenham are also three over the limit of 17 non-homegrown players and that leaves them in a position where outgoings are vital.

As things stand, six players aged over 21 at least must leave or be left out of Postecoglou's final squad that will be submitted to the Premier League, with more players then needing to join those not in his plans if he wants to bring in any further signings over the age of 21. Not in the best of positions at present due to their bloated numbers, Spurs can solve the current issues by parting with members of their squad.

Despite making it clear at the start of June that he wants to leave Tottenham to take on a new challenge, Hugo Lloris still remains at the club amid previous links with Lazio. This week will hopefully see the long-serving goalkeeper get his move as he brings down the curtain on his time in N17.

There could be plenty of movement in Tottenham's defence over the coming days with players such as Djed Spence, Japhet Tanganga, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Sergio Reguilon all linked with moves away.

football.london reported last week that Spence has interest from clubs in the Championship and Italy but is understood to be currently unsure about leaving the Premier League. After only making six appearances for Tottenham under Antonio Conte and with the player clearly not in Postecoglou's thinking, the ex-Middlesbrough man needs to depart for the sake of his own career after limited football last term.

Tanganga was another player to be restricted in his playing time in 2022/23, with this week potentially handing him the chance to go and play regularly elsewhere with potential suitors in the Premier League and also Italy.

Tipped to join Real Sociedad on loan before the Spanish side secured a deal for Arsenal's Kieran Tierney, Sergio Reguilon could possibly find himself at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player in a surprise move before the week is out. With the Red Devils short in terms of left-back options at present due to injuries, football.london's sister site Manchester Evening News understand that Reguilon and Chelsea's Marc Cucurella are players United are considering to solve their woes down the left flank.

Centre-backs Dier and Sanchez will also be in the headlines as the week progresses. The former finds himself with a decision to make after missing out on Postecoglou's squad for a third successive match at Bournemouth last weekend, while the latter, who was subject of a previously accepted £12million bid from Spartak Moscow, could still potentially depart despite impressing the boss in his recent displays.

Both players are in the final 12 months of their contracts and Tottenham really cannot afford for the pair to stay in N17 and then leave on free transfers come next July. In midfield, Tanguy Ndombele could be a late departure with the Frenchman not in Postecoglou's thinking.

Asked about the former Napoli loanee ahead of Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash at Fulham, Postecoglou said Ndombele is "in a boat with a few other guys" at present and that "this week a lot of those things I expect to get resolved". Spurs will listen to offers that come in for the 26-year-old but his high wages and poor performances over the past couple of seasons will make things tricky in terms of striking either a loan or permanent deal with suitors.

Harvey White's Tottenham career could also come to an end before Friday as he is now in the final year of his contract and behind a number of players in the midfield pecking order. Not handed a squad number by Postecoglou for the season, the midfielder needs a permanent exit so that he can build on his loan spell at Derby County and play football week in, week out.

In attack, this week will determine whether or not Dane Scarlett gets a loan move to help aid his development after a mixed time at Portsmouth last campaign. Impressing Postecoglou over the course of the summer and with Spurs short on out-and-out strikers following Harry Kane's exit, the boss must decide whether he stays in the capital and provides cover or he is given the green light to get more first-team football under his belt.

Another prospective exit could be Bryan Gil, who is now approaching the end of his recovery following a groin operation at the beginning of the month. The Spaniard's chances of first-team football at Spurs will be limited if Johnson joins from Nottingham Forest, thus meaning a loan exit for the third successive season could be signed off.
