Stan Kroenke continues to go from strength to strength as a businessman and sports team owner with his investments across the world booming. For the American real estate tycoon, 2023 has yet again been another impressive year.
On the field, he saw Arsenal finish as Premier League runners up, going from missing out on the Champions League the season before to leading the table for most of the 2022/23 campaign, narrowly falling short of Manchester City at the final hurdle. In the NBA, Kroenke saw Denver Nuggets win their first title as well.
Over the past three years Kroenke has also seen his Sports and Entertainment (KSE) empire boom across mutliple industries with investments in infrastructure and land proving just as luxurious as his NFL, NBA, lacrosse and ice hockey teams as well. It leaves the 76-year-old with more than 60million square feet of real estate as well as being the owner of teams playing at state-of-the-art facilities in England and America.
The Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids owner is now worth a staggering £12.66billion ($15.7bn), making him the most wealthy individual to own a football club in England. Although Newcastle and Manchester City both have investors with access to more money via the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) or Dubai-based family cash, Kroenke on his own is topping the list.
Having purchased shares in Arsenal in 2008 for the first time, he then went on to increase the stake in 2011 and has overseen a period of great turbulence at the Emirates Stadium with Arsene Wenger leaving and the club now ahead of schedule in their rebuild under Mikel Arteta.
For Kroenke, this latest figure is a huge rise on the £11.94billion ($14.8bn) he was valued at by Forbes just two months ago. It also continues a year-on-year improvement since 2021 - perhaps the nadir of his time in north London with a poor start for Arteta and the European Super League creation - taking him from being worth £6.69billion ($8.3bn) to almost double that now.

Kroenke's rise has also seen him splash out more cash in the transfer market for Arsenal than had previously been the case. In the past year the Gunners have spent over £250million ($309m) on new players despite not making much back from sales. The highlights of this includes going above the £100million ($124m) mark on a single player in Declan Rice.
Josh Kroenke, who has worked in sporting ventures across the world alongside his father, has played a key role in this development and has helped to change the atmosphere at the club around, working closely with Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar. He was part of the team sanctioning moves for Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz over the summer with Leandro Trossard joining in January.
With the Gunners once more competing at the top end of the table, there is still a demand for more players to come in to potentially change the course of the season. With the winter window opening in just over six weeks the focus will be on a new striker due to Gabriel Jesus' consistent injury issues, pressure building on Eddie Nketiah to produce against elite opponents and away from home and Havertz's positional dilemma.
Two players who the club are expected to explore deals for are Brentford's Ivan Toney and Serie A top scorer last term, Victor Osimhen. Both would be expensive, especially mid-season, but offer plenty to the team that some have tipped to be a defining piece of business.
Toney will be able to return to playing competitive matches after his ban from football ends in the final week of January. He has a little over 18 months left on his contract isn't likely to come cheap with the Bees still holding out for upwards of £60million ($72m), quoting prices as high as £100million ($124m) publicly.
It is the upper end of the scale that it will take to force a conversation with Napoli over Osimhen. The Nigerian forward is one of the most talented and in-form players in his position in the world and would be a serious coup for Arsenal, especially mid-season. With Kroenke's added cash influx and the desire to end a 20 year wait without winning the Premier League, it could come at the perfect time for Arsenal.
