Ange Postecoglou has admitted that he can still take positives from Tottenham's late 2-1 defeat against Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Leading 1-0 thanks to Brennan Johnson's third-minute strike, the Lilywhites couldn't quite find a second goal of the afternoon and they were made to pay as the hosts struck twice in stoppage time.

Firstly seeing Pablo Sarabia net a wonderful volley that left Guglielmo Vicario with no chance, Wolves then won it in the 97th minute after Mario Lemina found the far corner from midway inside the area. Going into the start of the week unbeaten in the Premier League, Spurs unfortunately slipped to their second defeat of the week following Monday's home loss to Chelsea.

Struggling without Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie and James Maddison, the north London club were far from their best but it did appear that they had done enough until Wolves' late comeback. Despite the frustration of losing so late on, Postecoglou admitted in his post-match press conference that there were aspects of the performance that he was pleased with.

"I've already said the character and the commitment. I don't dismiss that," explained the Australian. "There's a massive effort to go out against a strong opponent here at home.

"The guys are playing their first games of the year, you're changing three out of a back four so it's fairly disruptive, especially when guys haven't played at all. There's a lot of positives to take from it, they'll be better for the experience, they'll be stronger, so plenty of positives."

Having to do without three of his usual back four at Molineux, Eric Dier and Ben Davies came into the team and produced good displays as they frustrated Wolves on a number of occasions. Asked about how the duo fared after a lack of match action this term, Postecoglou praised the long-serving duo.

"Both of them and Emerson, and even for guys like Brennan and Pierre, who haven't started many games because we've had a pretty settled line-up, particularly those two guys coming in, I thought their commitment, their endeavour to play our way was there the whole game," said Postecoglou.

"They held out in the end, you could see they were feeling towards the end but they didn't let their performance levels drop. For the most part, Wolves didn't have many big chances, I think Vic had one or two saves to make but obviously, at the end there, I think the first goal was a really good goal and we probably ran out of steam in the last few minutes. Wolves, with the crowd behind them were able to lift."
